Simply booking an evaluation appointment by the deadline is not sufficient – you must have booked an appointment far enough in advance to ensure you can be scheduled for a post-retrofit evaluation that can be completed no later than March 31, 2011. I think that the HST did have an impact last year and we are only just now beginning to see it. A quick review of February stats shows Single family starts in Surrey declining from the 170's feb 2010 to the mid 50's feb 2011. Working on the materials supply end of the industry, I recall the hurried pace of the beginning of last year as many rushed to start and complete before the implementation of the tax. Don't get me wrong... I loved to see the spike in business but wondered at the time if it wasn't stealing from future business bit thinking that we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
