Home + Design Show – A Success!

Thank you everyone for coming to The Home + Design Show – it was a huge success! We were overwhelmed with the response and are excited to start some very cool projects! We always enjoy meeting members of the community and hearing what upcoming projects you have in mind. If there is any way we can help – no matter what stage you are at in the design-build process, please contact us.

Due to popular demand, you can still sign up for the Renovation Retreat if you didn’t have a chance to come down – (open until the end of this week). The lucky winner will be announced on November 1st and will receive the following:

  • A two-night stay in a Deluxe Harbour Mountain View Room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim
  • An intimate culinary journey for 2 at their authentic Pan-Asian bistro Oru
  • And a rejuvenating massage experience at the tranquil Willow Stream Spa set amidst the most spectacular water & mountain views.

KC  had the chance to meet Canadian-born bachelorette and Extreme Home Makeover host – Jillian Harris. She spoke about “customizing your style” and here were a couple of her rules to live by when it comes to interior design and decor:

  • Throw away the rules – design for you and your personality. In other words, don’t worry about black and brown together or red and pink – anything can work if it’s what you love.
  • Don’t focus on what’s “trendy”, take elements of styles you like and combine them in a flattering way.
  • Pull looks together to show off your personality. You’re space should reflect “you”.
  • Some personalized examples that ties us to our memories. Some examples included things like: framing a loved-ones recipe, or a meaningful key, or a piece of cocoanut bark from vacation.
  • Some other decor ides were: hanging a beautiful dress as art in your room, or in a guest room, and showcasing collectables in an artistic way. She demonstrated colorful shoes lined up on bright crown molding, a tea cup wall, and a cluster of globes.
  • She also spoke about why antiquing is great – it’s economical, sustainable, a fun activity to do with a friend and it’s a way to personalize a one-of-a-kind find. It is easy to replace knobs, paint, and upholstery for example.

The Home + Design Show featured several interesting exhibitors, other guest speakers such as Bryan Baeumler, and much much more. KC certainly enjoyed our time there and hope you did too!

If you are thinking of a renovation, want to build, or have maintenance requirements this winter, “request a quote”. We look forward to hearing from you!
