If I had a few extra dollars and a few weeks to escape to an Urban Paradise, I would pack my overnight bag and venture to The Keefer hotel and bar, merely a short bus ride from my humble abode.  There is no need to skip town if all you are looking for is an urban adventure, save the travel time and enjoy an incredible oasis right here in Vancouver.

The Keefer warehouse was built approximately 100 years ago for the Vancouver Gas Company.  This century old building resides in the heart of the Downtown East Side and has experienced its fair share of distress and rehabilitation like many of its neighboring buildings and residents.

Today The Keefer has been transformed into a surreal, ultra-sheik long-stay hotel. This boutique hotel only has a total of 4 rooms, 3 full floors residences and one unreal penthouse with an outstanding patio and transparent bottom pool. The main floor hotel-bar boasts a creative bar program, incredible food and outstanding interior finishes.

Battersby Howat design firm created this incredible space and the Ghar Williams architecture team that was involved in the project describes their design approach as “continually shifting to moods and whims of existing conditions”. Elements of the original building were embrace and left visble, further enhanced by the selectively chosen high-end finishes and custom built furnishings.

At Klondike, we are continually inspired by the incredible designers and architects that call Vancouver home. Visit The Keefer website for more details!
