We are kicking off the beginning of fall 2020 with work for our long-standing client, the Vancouver Academy of Music! Working with the academy’s board of directors and under the auspices of their dedicated patrons, Klondike Contracting regularly carry out tenant improvement work at this music conservatory, in collaboration with Lime Design Studio. This time, our work in the first phase of their second floor renovation will better facilitate the instruction of their students’ and support the internationally recognized educators and performers that work and perform there.

The Academy is currently transitioning to In-Person Programming, guided by a strict Restart Plan that includes creating a controlled environment, reducing class capacity, limiting the amount of traffic in the building and introducing goal-oriented objectives alternative to that of public performances. The Academy’s facilities have also implemented increased hand sanitizing stations, installation of touchless, sensor-based bathroom fixtures, regularly scheduled cleaning of high-touch surface areas, directional signage for one-way traffic, closure of practice rooms, installation of plexiglass barriers and removal of seating furniture in corridors and common areas.

Currently, major carpentry, plumbing and painting work are underway. Once finished, the current Lounge and Learning Centre on the second floor will have gone through a complete update of all washrooms, staff areas, communal areas, corridors and classrooms. In addition, four brand-new studios will be added, in order to better teach generations of young musicians.
